Analysis Of Music Videos. Research for planning.
This is my first analysis of a music video. As I will be soon planning my video I feel I should explore some music videos to look at the techniques used and to look for the conventions.
DEAD SWANS - PREFERRING THE WORST
I have scanned in a mind map analysis of the music video here:

A2 Media Blogging for 2009/2010 & MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY
I have started another new blog to record my research and production for A2. In our first A2 project we have been asked to research music videos and their history. From the information we gather during researching, I hope to be able to plan and produce a high standard music video to present to the class by December 2009.
MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY
"A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Although the origins of music videos go back much further, they came into their own in the 1980s, when MTV based their format around the medium, and later with the launch of VH1. The term "music video" first came into popular usage in the early 1980s. Prior to that time, these works were described by various terms including "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film"
On August 1, 1981, at 12:01 a.m., MTV: Music Television launched. The original purpose of MTV was to be "Music Television," playing music videos 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, guided by on-air personalities known as VJs, or video jockeys. The original taglines of the channel were "You'll never look at music the same way again," and "On cable. In stereo." Although the concept of playing music videos 24/7 has long been abandoned, MTV still promotes and plays a limited selection of music videos on its TV channel and web site.
